Man, 49, an HDB staff, dies after dragon boat race at S'pore Regatta Waterfest
Investigations are ongoing.
A 49-year-old man died after a dragon boat race at the 2025 Singapore Regatta Waterfest on Nov. 16.
According to CNA, the man was a Housing and Development Board staff member who represented its dragon boat team.
He reportedly felt unwell after the race on the morning of Nov. 16.
The race was held at the Singapore Sports Hub's Water Sports Centre at Kallang Basin.
The Straits Times reported that his condition did not improve despite receiving on-site medical attention.
An HDB spokesperson said the staff was transported to the hospital for medical attention, where he later passed on after unsuccessful resuscitation attempts by emergency crew.
Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM), which runs the Singapore Sports Hub, added that "immediate medical assistance was rendered on-site".
The man was admitted to Tan Tock Seng Hospital unconscious, where he was subsequently pronounced dead, according to the police.
The police were alerted to a case of unnatural death at around 12:20pm.
No foul play is suspected following preliminary investigations.
Investigations are ongoing.

KASM, along with the Singapore Dragon Boat Association, said it is working closely with relevant authorities to provide further assistance:
"We are deeply saddened by the incident and our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time."
HDB said it is in close contact with the deceased's family and is providing them with support during this difficult time.
