20 motorcyclists chase, surround & attack car in M'sia, 9 bikers aged 17 to 21 arrested

Nine people were arrested on Sep. 30 in Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia for allegedly participating in a mob attack on a car driver on the road.

A video of the incident, which was seemingly recorded by a member of the mob, has since gone viral online.

It showed a large group of motorcyclists chasing a grey hatchback Perodua Myvi car at high speed along a road.

One rider on a blue motorcycle was seen punching and kicking the body and window of the car as he rode at the driver's side.

The sideview mirror of the car was also visibly broken.

Arrests

Police said the attack occurred near the Batu 13 Toll Plaza in Puchong in the early morning of Sep. 28, according to Malay Mail.

Serdang district police chief Muhamad Farid Ahmad said about 20 motorcyclists are believed to be involved in the attack.

Nine individuals between the ages of 17 and 21 have been arrested in raids around Puchong and Shah Alam so far, and police are working to identify others involved.

Three motorcycles believed to be among the mob were also seized.

The driver of the car is reported a 52-year-old security guard, who lodged a police report following the attack, stating he was surrounded by the group at about 4am.

The cause of the attack is still under investigation.

The arrested suspects have also been brought to court to be remanded and the case is being investigated for mischief and damage, as well as reckless driving.
