Fire engines were activated after a fire broke out at Singapore Polytechnic on Oct. 1.
Based on pictures shared by a Mothership reader, plumes of smoke were seen coming from the W2 building in the polytechnic.

Three Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) fire engines were seen arriving outside the building.
The W2 building is a "Workshop Block" for Singapore Polytechnic, according to the contractor's website.
Speaking to Mothership, the SCDF confirmed that it was alerted to a fire at 500 Dover Road on Oct. 1, 2025 at about 3:30pm.
The fire involved a storage area within a laboratory on the first floor.
SCDF extinguished the fire with a water jet.
About 25 persons were evacuated from the affected building by staff.
There were no reported injuries, and the cause of fire is under investigation.
