India toddler dies after falling into pot of boiling milk in school kitchen

A one-and-a-half-year-old girl in India died after falling into a pot of boiling milk in a school kitchen.
According to The Economic Times, she fell into the pot of boiling milk on Sep. 20, 2025.
Akshita, who was about 16 months old, reportedly succumbed to her injuries on Sep. 23.
India news outlet NDTV reported that the incident occurred at Ambedkar Gurukula School in Anantpur district's Bukkarayasamudram village.
Anantpur, also known as Ananthapuramu, is a city and district in the southwest part of Andhra Pradesh, India.
Captured on CCTV
The incident, which was captured on CCTV footage, showed Akshita following a cat around the school kitchen.
She was there to accompany her mother, Challa Krishnaveni.
According to NDTV, Krishnaveni is a security guard at the school under the Seva Supreme Agency.
Severe burns
In the video, Akshita could be seen in the kitchen.
She followed the cat right up to the pot of boiling milk.
According to NDTV, the boiling pot of milk prepared for students was left to cool under a ceiling fan.
When Akshita was right in front of the pot, she stumbled and fell right into the boiling milk.
Eventually died
According to NDTV, this caused Akshita to suffer severe burns on her body.
Akshita's mother reportedly rushed in after hearing her daughter's screams.
She pulled Akshita from the pot and rushed her to Anantapur Government Hospital.
Akshita was transferred to Kurnool Government Hospital. However, Akshita succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
