A Taiwanese man, 48, was arrested for allegedly stabbing three people in Miaoli, Taiwan.

The man, known as Chiu, was attacking random passersby near a convenience store.

The incident took place around 500m from a primary school.

According to local media, the victims were two 11-year-old students and a 50-year-old man.

They were not known to the attacker.

One of the girls was seriously injured after getting stabbed in the chest.

She was admitted to a hospital for further care.

Chiu fled the scene, but the police tracked him down to his house, where they managed to apprehend him with the help of stun guns.

Chiu is under investigation for attempted murder.

According to Taipei Times, Chiu had previously served time for a very similar stabbing incident back in 2015.

He had then also armed himself with scissors and attacked passersby at a convenience store.

He was jailed eight years and was released earlier in March 2025.

The Miaoli County Commissioner said Chiu should not have been released if he posed a threat to society.
