WhatsappA man in Hong Kong has been arrested after he allegedly grabbed a woman against her will, and dragged her through the streets while asking her to be his girlfriend.

The incident, which was caught on camera by bystanders, reportedly happened on Paterson Street at Causeway Bay on Sep. 28 at about 9.30pm, according to Hong Kong media.

Incident

The man, identified only by his surname Mok, was clad in a purple shirt as he wrapped his arms around the woman from behind.

He could be heard saying, "Be my girlfriend, I really like you" in Cantonese, while the woman, clad in a white outfit, struggled to free herself from his grip.

She could also be heard yelling "I don't know you!"

Mok eventually let the woman go after passers-by intervened and pulled him away by his arm.

The woman was then seen whipping out her phone and dialling in a number, supposedly to call the police.

According to Hong Kong news outlet The Standard, Mok had dragged her for 10 metres down the street before he released her.

The victim, a 41-year-old woman, later shared on social media that she had been heading to the supermarket when the incident occurred.

She also thanked members of the public who had stepped in to stop the man, in particular four foreigners who reportedly stayed by her side until the police arrived.

Inappropriate YouTube footage

Some netizens identified Mok as the owner of a YouTube channel, launched in June 2024, that has seemingly been taken down.

According to The Standard, it contained nine videos, primarily featuring female cosplayers and showgirls.

Some commenters on the latest video claimed to have met Mok at an event, but pointed out that the angles of his footage were inappropriate.

Others also questioned Mok's mental state, with a number calling for actions to be taken against him for the assault.

Investigations are reportedly ongoing.
