Kembangan road covered in brownish water, traffic light falls over, pipe leak repair works done after 16 hours
The cause of the pipe leak is under investigation.
A traffic junction in Kembangan was covered by a pool of brownish water as a result of a pipe leak on Oct. 12, which also led to a traffic light collapsing.
PUB told Mothership that the pipe leak incident took place at 4:11am on Oct. 12 at the junction of Changi Road and Jalan Kembangan.
A service crew was dispatched onsite to isolate the leak, and repair works were completed that evening, said PUB.
Flooded
A video of the incident was posted to TikTok on Oct. 12.
Footage showed brownish water on the road at the junction.

A traffic light also appeared to have toppled, with debris strewn on the road.
When Mothership visited the scene at around 11:30pm, workers were seen fixing the traffic light back in place.

PUB statement
PUB confirmed that the incident damaged the traffic light at the junction.
To facilitate repair works, two out of four lanes along Changi Road were closed.
During the repair works, PUB deployed a water wagon and distributed water bags to nearby residents who had experienced poor water pressure.
Repairs were completed at 8:15pm on the same day.
The affected lanes were reopened to traffic at around 6am the next day, Oct. 13.
"The cause of the pipe leak is under investigation. We thank motorists and residents affected by the incident for their patience and understanding," said PUB.
