S'pore calls Israel's airstrikes in Doha 'egregious & dangerous', stands in solidarity with Qatar
Dangerous.
Israel attacked targets in the Qatari capital of Doha on Sep. 9, in what it claims was a targeted attack on Hamas leaders in the city.
Al Jazeera and Reuters have reported that Israel’s military has said that they were responsible for explosions in the Qatari capital of Doha.
Al Jazeera added that Israel’s military has said that the explosions were the result of an assassination attempt against the top leadership of the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs have spoken out against the airstrikes.
In their statement on Sep. 10, they called the airstrikes a "blatant violation of the sovereignty of Qatar".
It added that the strikes were an "egregious and dangerous action" that undermines ongoing ceasefire negotiations, the release of hostages in Gaza, and Qatar's "tireless efforts" to secure such an agreement.
It ended by saying Singapore stands in solidarity with Qatar.
100 weeks of war
This week marks the 100th week since Hamas' bombing of Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, which marked the beginning of the latest slate of the Gaza War.
Multiple attempts at brokering a ceasefire between both parties have failed so far, with Qatar and Egypt helming ceasefire talks.
