Families with 3 or more young children to get S$1,000 LifeSG credits
More support for large families.
Families with three or more Singaporean children aged one to six this year will start to receive S$1,000 in LifeSG credits, the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) announced.
Each third and subsequent child will receive these credits each year, from the year they turn one until they turn six.
The age will be counted as of the eligibility assessment date of Aug. 1, 2025.
An eligible child who is four years old as of Aug. 1, 2025, for example, will still receive the S$1,000 credits for three years until they turn six in 2027.
The first disbursement of the LifeSG credits will be made today (Sep. 10) to families with a third and subsequent Singaporean child born between Jan. 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2024.
Subsequent disbursements will be made every April, with the next one in April 2026 for children born between 2020 and 2025 — making them between the ages of one and six in 2026.
The LifeSG credits will also apply to widowed or divorced parents, as long as they have three or more age-eligible children related to them by birth, adoption, or step-relations.
Where to access and use the credits
The LifeSG credits will given out automatically into a digital wallet in the LifeSG app, which can be accessed by the parent who is authorised to manage the eligible child's Child Development Account (CDA).
No application is required.
Parents will receive an SMS notification from “gov.sg” when the credits are available in the app.
The LifeSG credits can be used at both physical and online merchants to pay for essential household expenses such as groceries, pharmacy items, utilities, and transport.
All merchants who accept payment via PayNow UEN QR and/or NETS QR will be able to accept the LifeSG credits, according to MSF.
More grants
The LifeSG credits come under the new Large Families Scheme (LFS) announced by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at Budget 2025, to provide greater support for larger families.
The LFS also include additional grants for these families.
For each third and subsequent child born on or after Feb. 18, 2025, parents will get a S$5,000 increase in the CDA First Step Grant (FSG), and a S$5,000 Large Family MediSave Grant (LFMG).
Eligible families eligible will receive the CDA FSG and the LFMG around two weeks after they have opened their CDA and have successfully enrolled into the Baby Bonus scheme respectively.
More information about the LFS can be found here.
Merchant deals
Outside of the government, merchants from more than 50 corporate and community organisations are also offering deals and discounts to large families.
These deals include savings on household staples, groceries, meals, and large capacity rides with ride-hailing apps.
There will also be discounts on furniture, indoor playgrounds, dining perks, and family activity classes.
In a Sep. 10 YouTube video introducing the LFS, PM Wong said, "We will continue to do everything we can to help reduce these costs, especially for large families, and build a Singapore that is made for families."
