West Coast HDB resident contemplating moving out after pickleball game lasted till 2am
Place and time for everything.
A West Coast resident is contemplating moving out of her public housing unit after a recent pickleball game lasted till 2am.
The woman, surnamed Guo (transliteration), 28, said the group of players occupied the badminton court near Block 512 West Coast Drive on Friday, Sep. 5 for their game, Shin Min Daily News reported.
The noise from the pickleball session could be heard from her eighth-floor unit, which she rents.
Sounds audible in video
Footage she provided showed six people at the badminton court, with three of them playing pickleball.
The sound of the ball getting struck was audible in the video.
"The group must have finished a gathering elsewhere and were not satisfied, so they decided to continue playing at the badminton court," Guo said.
Light sleeper
As she was a light sleeper, any noise would keep her awake, she said, adding that she is not against people exercising.
She said she works late sometimes and finds it hard to rest as the games resume early the next morning.
Games usually start at around 8:30am, last throughout the afternoon, and end in the evening.
Lease ends next year
Her current lease ends in the middle of next year.
She said "I'm considering moving out due to the noise issue."
Guo added that has been residing in the area for over a year, but this was the first time she had encountered such a situation where the game lasted till the wee hours of the morning.
