He later shot and stabbed a policeman to evade arrest and remains at large.

The corpse of a 62-year-old woman was later discovered in the boot of the man's car.

Nine people, including his family members, were hauled in by the local police for questioning.

Car chase

Speaking about the incident, Perak police chief Noor Hisam Nordin told local media that it began when a police patrol spotted a suspicious vehicle late at night on Sep. 7, MalayMail wrote.

The police approached the vehicle to investigate, but the suspect sped off.

What ensued was a 2.6km car chase that ended in a oil palm plantation.

The suspect's vehicle appeared to have crashed inside of the vegetation.

When officers attempted an arrest, a struggle broke out between the suspect and the officers.

The suspected grabbed the sidearm of one of the policemen and fired two shots into his abdomen, Sin Chew Daily reported.

After firing at the officer, the suspect then stabbed him three times before fleeing.

The officer was sent to a hospital and is in stable condition.
