2 teens, 16 & 17, arrested for mischief after AMK fire that sent 11 to hospital

A fire broke out at Block 510 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 on Sep. 25.

Responding to queries from Mothership, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a fire at about 8:30pm. SCDF said the fire was swiftly extinguished by firefighters.

11 people were taken to the hospital after being assessed for smoke inhalation, and 90 people were evacuated from the block.

SCDF said the fire involved a personal mobility aid (PMA) and bicycles at the seventh-floor lift lobby.

In response to queries from Mothership, the police said the 11 people, aged between 18 months and 85 years old, were conveyed conscious to the hospital.

Two male teenagers aged 16 and 17 were arrested for the offence of mischief by fire. Police investigations are ongoing.
