Man, 49, arrested for allegedly slashing man, 59, with penknife at Toa Payoh HDB on National Day
The two men had been drinking together at the coffee shop nearby.
Two middle-aged men drinking at a Toa Payoh coffee shop on National Day were later seen at an HDB void deck, with blood splattered on the ground.
One of the men was arrested for allegedly using a penknife to slash the other.
Drinking session ended with blood on ground
Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership that on Aug. 9, at around 8:30pm, they received a call for assistance at Block 168 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh.
A 59-year-old man was conveyed conscious to the hospital, police said.
A 49-year-old man was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon.
An eyewitness said that he initially saw the two men sitting with another couple at the coffee shop to drink, Lianhe Zaobao reported.
The two men later left the table, and sometime afterwards, a woman frantically went to the coffee shop toilet to get tissues.
According to the eyewitness, the two men had gone over to a nearby HDB block and one ended up sitting on the ground with an apparent wound on his head.

"A woman helped to call the police and an ambulance. There was blood everywhere on the ground. It was terrifying," the eyewitness told Zaobao.
The eyewitness also shared his suspicions that the men started arguing over drinks and decided to "settle the matter" elsewhere.
SCDF said the injured man was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Police investigations are ongoing.
