Man, 33, jailed 10 weeks for driving without licence & assaulting another man, 40, with friends near State Courts
He was granted a discharge not amounting to acquittal in a Punggol robbery case.
On Nov. 18, 2023, a then-33-year-old man, who had taken up a job collecting and transporting cash from a Telegram user, met with a male teenager, then 16, at a car park located in Punggol Field.
The older man was following the instructions of a Telegram user.
However, shortly after the boy left, the man, Adam Firdaus Bin Mohammad, heard people shouting and saw the boy being pinned to the ground by members of the public.
The Telegram user instructed Firdaus to leave the scene.
He did so by driving his younger brother's car.
He then proceeded to complete another job using the car, even though he did not hold a valid driving licence.
It turned out that the boy who was pinned down was involved in an alleged robbery case at Punggol Field.
The victim was a 33-year-old man who was allegedly robbed of S$81,060.
Firdaus was arrested in relation to the incident at Circuit Road later that day.
Both Firdaus and the boy were charged with conspiring to rob the victim on Nov. 20, 2023.
However, Firdaus was granted a discharge not amounting to acquittal in November 2024, reported Shin Min Daily News.
He faced several other charges, including driving without a valid licence and voluntarily causing hurt.
On Jul. 10, 2025, Firdaus was sentenced to 10 weeks' jail and barred from obtaining or holding a driver's licence for three years after admitting to his offences.
Details of alleged robbery
In a news release issued on Nov. 19, 2023, the Singapore Police Force said they were alerted to the case at around 2:32pm on Nov. 18.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim received an offer from a stranger on Telegram to trade crypto tokens for cash.
At the stranger's instructions, the victim met up with the boy at Punggol Field to hand over cash, which amounted to around S$81,000.
However, while counting the cash, the boy allegedly grabbed the bag containing the cash and fled.
When the victim gave chase and stopped the boy, the boy took out a kitchen knife but dropped it.
The boy was detained with the assistance of two men and one woman.
He was subsequently arrested by the police, and the cash was fully recovered.
Besides the boy and Firdaus, another man, 27, was also arrested in relation to the case along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 9.
Firdaus took up job from unknown Telegram user
According to court documents seen by Mothership, some time before Nov. 18, 2023, Firdaus saw a message in a Telegram group named "Parcel Delivery", offering a job that would pay S$300.
After contacting the message's sender, whose username was "Luigi", Firdaus was told that someone would contact him about the job.
Later on, Firdaus received a message from another unknown Telegram user, whose username was "Xiao Ge Ge", which literally translates to "little older brother" in Chinese.
Xiao Ge Ge subsequently told Firdaus that the job was to collect some cash from a Chinese male at a given location before handing it over at another location.
When Xiao Ge Ge asked whether he had any mode of transport, Firdaus said he had a bike and a car, even though he did not hold a driving licence.
Borrowed car from younger brother
On Nov. 18, 2023, Firdaus received a message, instructing him to go to Block 199 Punggol Field.
After arriving at the public housing block by taxi, Firdaus asked his younger brother to meet him there so that he could borrow the car.
Firdaus told his younger brother that he wanted to use the car to run errands, and his younger brother agreed to lend it to him, unaware that Firdaus did not have a driving licence.
After their chat, Firdaus' younger brother left the car park, while Firdaus remained near the car to wait for the Chinese male mentioned by Xiao Ge Ge, who turned out to be the boy.
Upon arriving at the car park, the boy spoke briefly to Firdaus before leaving the scene.
Left scene for another job
Shortly after the boy's departure, Firdaus heard people shouting and screaming.
Upon seeing that the boy had been pinned to the ground by members of the public, Firdaus sent a message to Xiao Ge Ge that the boy had been detained.
After Xiao Ge Ge told him to leave, Firdaus drove to another job before heading to Block 71 Circuit Road.
He was subsequently arrested at around 8:07pm in relation to the alleged robbery case.
Joined friends in assaulting victim in 2024
Besides driving without a valid licence, investigations revealed that Firdaus had joined his friend in assaulting a then-40-year-old man near the State Courts on May 3, 2024.
Court documents stated that on the day of the incident, Sahlan Bin Moati, then 42, and Muhammad Hairi Bin Mohamed Fazir, then 33, both of whom were Firdaus' friends, went to the vicinity of the States Courts at around 10am.
They were joined by a third man, Muhammad Syarifuddin Bin Ahmad Hussain, then 30, and Sahlan's then-girlfriend, 44.
The group visited the State Courts because the victim was there to attend a court mention, and the group wanted to confront the victim about a dispute between Sahlan's then-girlfriend and the victim.
Firdaus joined the group when he saw them with the victim, even though he did not personally know the victim.
Assaulted victim outside hotel
Later on, Sahlan grabbed the victim by the arm and brought him to the open-air smoking area outside the Furama City Centre hotel along Eu Tong Sen Street.
At around 10:42am, Firdaus, Sahlan, Hairi, and Syarifuddi, who had been surrounding the victim, began assaulting him.
Sahlan placed the victim's head in a headlock, pulled his feet, and punched his head, while Hairi kicked the victim's stomach area.
Firdaus kicked the victim's head area, while Syarifuddi punched and kicked the victim multiple times.
Victim sustained multiple injuries
The scene of the assault was captured by the hotel's surveillance system and an onlooker, who took a video of the assault, uploaded the footage to Facebook.
At around 10:44am, the victim lodged a police report regarding the incident.
As a result of the assault, the victim sustained bruises to his right ribcage, lower back, and right side of his face.
He also suffered some abrasions to his right elbow and left knee area.
