The body of a 62-year-old man was retrieved from the waters off East Coast Park (ECP) on Jul. 12 afternoon.

The operation was caught on camera by an onlooker, who subsequently shared the photo with The Straits Times.

In the photo, at least four Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers could be seen gathering near the shore while a police officer walked towards them.

Several pieces of equipment were also scattered on a grass patch nearby.

Police investigations ongoing

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said they received a call for assistance for "a case of suspected drowning" at ECP at 3pm on Saturday.

After the man's body was found and retrieved, he was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play.

Police investigations are ongoing.
