Attendees to Taiwanese band Mayday's concert in Taipei on Jul. 12 were pleasantly surprised when Taiwanese boy group F4, which disbanded in 2009, made a special appearance near the end of the show.

F4, which comprises Vic Chou, 44, Vanness Wu, 46, Ken Chu, 46, and Jerry Yan, 48, also performed two songs with Mayday, according to a Xiaohongshu user who attended the concert.

The songs are F4's "Meteor Rain" and Mayday's "The Song of Laughter and Forgetting".

The performance on Saturday was the first time all four members of F4 appeared together in 12 years, reported Taiwanese media TVBS.

In 2013, F4 reunited at China's Jiangsu TV's Chinese New Year gala, where they performed two songs from the band's first album, "Meteor Rain" and "As Soon As Possible (第一时间)".

Ashin planned F4's reunion secretly for 2 years

Mayday's concert on Jul. 12, which was part of the band's "#5525 live tour", was Mayday's last show at Taipei Dome.

At the concert, Chen Hsin-hung, Mayday's vocalist who goes by his stage name Ashin, revealed that the reunion was two years in the making, reported TVBS.

"The four of you have not changed at all. It was not easy to stand [together] on stage again, and [all of you] are busy with work. It was all the colleagues around us who made this reunion come true," added Ashin.

In response, all four members of F4 thanked Ashin and his team for their effort in bringing the boy group together.

In particular, Yan stated that the reunion at Mayday's concert "felt like a dream", adding that it was something he never thought would happen.

Chu, who previously kept the reunion a secret by claiming that he did not stay in touch with other F4 members, jokingly said that he felt "relieved" after the performance.

"I have been playing dumb for a while. Whenever anyone asked me [about the reunion], I said, 'I don't know. I'm not close to them.' After today, I don't have to play dumb anymore," shared Chu.
