A 66-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly injured a woman, 43, and another man, 64, with two knives on the ground floor of Block 965 Jurong West Street 93 on Jul. 10.

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, the woman, Geneina (transliteration), said the alleged assailant did so because he was "jealous that she was talking to two other men" at the public housing block.

However, she firmly denied that she was ever in a romantic relationship with the alleged assailant and said they were only "neighbours".

As a result of the alleged attack, one of the men whom Geneina was chatting with sustained injuries to his head, while Geneina sustained two injuries to her forehead.

Specifically, the wound between her brows was at least 4cm long, according to Shin Min reporters who visited the scene of the incident.

Alleged assailant 'tried to bring Geneina away': witness

When Shin Min reporters arrived at the public housing block, they saw blood stains on the ground floor where Geneina and the two other men sat.

The only person amongst the trio who was unscathed during the incident, Rosman (transliteration), 62, told the Chinese daily that he was unharmed because he was sitting in a wheelchair at the time.

Prior to the alleged attack, Rosman said that he had approached Geneina and the other man after seeing them chatting.

However, while they were "just talking", the alleged assailant apparently approached them multiple times and attempted to take Geneina away.

Although Rosman tried to persuade the alleged assailant to calm down, the other party allegedly "behaved strangely and out of character", recounted Rosman.

Allegedly fetched knives after Geneina refused to leave

According to Rosman, after Geneina repeatedly refused to leave with the alleged assailant, he was apparently enraged and returned home to fetch the knives, reported Shin Min.

Rosman further claimed that the alleged assailant hid the knives under his clothing before approaching the trio.

He then attacked the other man who was chatting with Geneina before slashing her, alleged Rosman.

"After Geneina and the man chatting with her sustained injuries on their heads, Geneina began wrestling with the [alleged assailant]," recounted Rosman.

Rosman shared that he was "terrified" during the altercation, especially when his phone fell to the ground, causing its screen to crack: "I am a wheelchair user and have mobility issues. I also suffer from a chronic disease. If he were to attack me, it would have been quite easy."

Although the alleged assailant fled the scene afterwards, police officers eventually arrested him at his residential unit after Rosman alerted the authorities.

Alleged assailant referred to CNB for suspected drug-related offences

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that they received a call for assistance regarding the incident at around 6:40pm on Thursday.

A 64-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman sustained minor injuries, but refused conveyance to the hospital.

Another man, 66, sustained minor injuries and was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

He was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon and suspected drug-related offences.

Two knives were seized as case exhibits.

The suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

Police investigations are ongoing.
