JJ Lin appears in pain at Beijing concert, reveals he has heart condition
“I felt for the first time that life was slipping away.”
Singaporean Mandopop singer JJ Lin revealed during the final show of his world tour that he had been diagnosed with a heart condition last year.
The 44-year-old said he had gotten the diagnosis in April 2024, requiring him to take medication daily, according to media reports.
Diagnosed with a heart condition a year ago
“I was shocked by the news,” Lin told the audience during his ninth show at Beijing’s national stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest.
“Never did I imagine that this would happen to me,” he added on.
The concert marks the end of his “JJ20 Final Lap World Tour”, an extension of the “JJ20 World Tour” launched in 2022 to commemorate his 20th anniversary in the music industry.
“At that moment, I felt for the first time that life was slipping away, and the question of how long I could continue to sing became very real,” he spoke about how he felt when he received the diagnosis.
“But I told myself that even if my heart were to lose its rhythm, I would continue to work hard. All of you have come from around the world to watch me perform in over a hundred concerts. I believe that, through my efforts and those of my team, everything that we hope to achieve will not disappoint you.”
Spotted in pain during concert
Netizens have since poured in their well wishes on Weibo.
This was after he appeared tearful and in pain at one point during the final concert, though he continued to sing after regaining his composure.
Some fans have also noticed a wrist strap on his right hand recently, speculated to be used to monitor his heart rate.
Will take a break after the world tour
Lin’s management company, JFJ Productions, said that the singer goes through regular check-ups and will take a break after the tour.
