SCDF fighting fire in Toa Payoh HDB flat, 3 people sent to hospital

A fire broke out in a Housing and Development Board (HDB) flat at Block 229, Toa Payoh Lorong 8 on Jul. 29.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they were alerted to a fire at around 1:10pm.

"SCDF is currently at the scene conducting a firefighting operation," it added.

Three people were assessed for smoke inhalation and burn injuries and conveyed to Singapore General Hospital.

Videos posted on social media showed huge black fumes bellowing out of several windows from the flat.

The window frames also appeared to be warped due to the flames.

A video from a Mothership reader showed numerous firefighters on the ground with equipment.

Just a week prior, two died after a flat caught fire at Lorong 1 Toa Payoh on the evening of Jul. 22.
