S'pore-Bali flights cancelled after volcano erupts in Indonesia
A huge ash cloud was spewed over 11km into the sky.
Over 15 flights to and from Bali have been cancelled after a volcano erupted in the afternoon of Jun. 17.
The flights, including Jetstar and Singapore Airlines flights from Singapore, were listed as "[cancelled] due to volcano" on the Bali international airport website.
The eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes, led to the authorities issuing the country's highest alert.
Laki-Laki is about 500km from Bali.
A huge ash cloud was spewed over 11km into the sky, but no casualties have been reported so far, according to BBC.
At least one village has been evacuated. Residents have also been advised to wear face masks to protect themselves from volcanic ash.
Erupted last year
Laki-Laki last erupted in November 2024.
In the two-week-long eruption, flights were also cancelled due to the 9km-tall ash cloud.
Nine people were killed in the eruption.
