Car crashes into tree in Paya Lebar, man, 53, dies
He was conveyed unconscious to the hospital, where he subsequently passed away.
A 53-year-old male driver passed away after his car crashed into a tree along Paya Lebar Road towards Upper Paya Lebar Road, near TMC Academy Paya Lebar Campus, on Jun. 16.
The aftermath of the fatal collision was caught on camera by an onlooker, and the photos and videos were shared with Stomp.
Black car damaged
A black car was seen along the leftmost lane of the road.
Its front tyres had mounted the road kerb.
The front of the car was severely damaged, and its licence plate had fallen off.
The airbag in the front passenger seat was deployed.
At least three paramedics were seen attending to the driver, who was lying on the road.
At least five Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) firefighters were seen near the car.
Witness heard 'loud sound'
When a Shin Min Daily News reporter visited the scene of the incident on Jun. 17 morning, they saw debris around the tree.
The tree bore the brunt of the impact.
An employee of TMC Academy told the Chinese daily that she heard "a loud sound" at the time of the incident, but she did not know how the car crashed into the tree.
The employee added that SCDF arrived shortly after the collision, and officers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the driver.
She also said she heard someone at the scene saying that the driver was "in critical condition".
Car believed to have self-skidded
In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that they were alerted to the incident at around 12:05pm on Jun. 16.
The car was believed to have self-skidded.
The car driver, a 53-year-old male, was conveyed unconscious to the hospital, where he subsequently passed away.
Police investigations are ongoing.
