The Trump Organisation has unveiled a smartphone priced at US$499 (S$638.94) and a monthly mobile phone plan priced at US$47.45 (S$60.76).

According to The Trump Organisation, the news was announced on Jun. 16, the 10th anniversary of Trump's launch of his presidential campaign.

American flag carved on the gold-coloured smartphone

The gold-coloured phone, which the Trump Organisation says will be released in August, has the American flag etched on the back.

Called the T1 Phone, it functions on an Android 15 operating system and has an in-screen fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock.

On the Trump Mobile website, the phone screens are marketed with Trump's campaign slogan: "Make America Great Again."

An "All-American performance" mobile plan

The mobile plan, known as The 47 Plan, is marketed to have an "All-American performance" at an "Everyday price".

According to BBC News, Trump's sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, who run the Trump Organisation, had priced the mobile plan at US$47.45 as a reference to their father serving as the country's 47th and 45th president.

According to the Trump Organisation's website, the mobile plan comes with the following:

  • Unlimited talk, text, and data
  • Complete device protection
  • 24/7 roadside assistance through Drive America
  • Telehealth services
  • Free international calling to more than 100 countries

In a statement by the Trump Organisation, Donald Trump Jr. shared:

"Trump Mobile is going to change the game, we’re building on the movement to put America first, and we will deliver the highest levels of quality and service. Our company is based right here in the United States because we know it’s what our customers want and deserve."

The statement also claimed that the phone would be "proudly designed and built in the United States", a claim that experts have cast doubt upon.

The organisation's venture into telecommunications, however, is mainly a licensing deal, as the Trump Organisation will not be the one making the phones.

The statement wrote:

"Trump Mobile, its products and services are not designed, developed, manufactured, distributed or sold by The Trump Organization or any of their respective affiliates or principals.

T1 Mobile LLC uses the "Trump" name and trademark pursuant to the terms of a limited license agreement which may be terminated or revoked according to its terms."

According to the BBC, the name of the business partner that will run the service was not given.
