Dubai has announced a four-day work week and reduced hours for its public sector workers over the summer.
The initiative, dubbed "Our Flexible Summer", will run from Jul. 1 to Sep. 12, 2025.
The summer schedule is intended to provide government workers with greater work-life balance, reported TimeOut Dubai.
It was initially piloted in 2024, and was found to improve employee satisfaction and productivity.
Work-life balance
Under the summer schedule, employees will be divided into two groups, based on different work schedule options.
The first option is to work eight hours daily from Mondays to Thursdays, with Fridays off.
The second option is to work seven hours daily from Mondays to Thursdays, and a 4.5-hour day on Fridays.
This means that official working hours for participating government entities will only last from 7:30am to 3:30pm from Mondays to Thursdays, and till 12:00pm on Fridays.
