2 Indian nationals arrested for 3 cases of shop theft in Changi Airport transit area
The total value of the goods amounted to S$635.
Two Indian nationals, 29 and 30, who were on transit in Changi Airport, were arrested on Jun. 2, 2025 for three cases of shop theft at Terminals 2 and 3.
In a statement released on Jun. 9, police said that they were alerted to a suspected case of theft of a purse from retail outlet Furla in the departure transit area of Changi's Terminal 3 at about 2.25pm on June. 2, 2025.
The women were identified and located using CCTV footage and arrested in under one hour by the Airport Police Division, before they were able to depart from Singapore.
The stolen yellow purse was found on one of the women, while a new black haversack and a new bottle of perfume was found in the luggage of the second woman.
All three items were purportedly taken from different shops without being paid for and had a total value of S$635.
Both women have been detained and will be charged in court on Jun. 10, 2025 for theft in dwelling, according to Section 380 of the Penal Code.
Offences under this charge are punishable with an imprisonment term of up to seven years, or liability to a fine, or both.
