Japanese Lolita model & singer, 47, is father of 2, says new look helps him express emotions better

A Japanese Lolita model and singer who cross-dresses in Lolita clothing is also a father of two kids.

According to the South China Morning Post, Takuma Tani, 47, believes that dressing up in feminine clothes will make his music softer.

Lolita fashion is a subculture from Japan inspired by Victorian clothing and styles from the Rococo period.

According to Tani's Instagram account's description, he identifies as a man.

It also says that he has appeared on several Japanese media channels, including "Fuji TV" and "TV Asahi".

According to the South China Morning Post, given his petite frame, Tani had initially wished to be more masculine.

Once he had started wearing Lolita dresses, however, he began to feel more confident.

According to SCMP, his music has also became softer and more expressive after "embracing Lolita dresses".

In a YouTube video posted by Japan's Abema News, which has garnered over 500,000 views, a header above Tani said, "This is not AI!"

The header said that this person, who insists on being a real bishojo (pretty girl), is a dad.

In Japanese culture, the word bishojo is used to describe cute or attractive female characters in either anime, manga or other media.

Shares how he achieves his look online

Tani has been open about how he manages to achieve his cute appearance for his fans.

In one Instagram post, titled "Father's injection recipe", Tani showed his no-makeup look, as well as the injections he had done to different parts of his face.

This includes a botox injection to his chin and a stem cell injection to his under-eye.

In another post, he shares makeup tips on how to make one eye bigger, such as which areas to add highlighter on.

Facing backlash for his cross-dressing

According to SCMP, however, Tani has had his fair share of challenges dressing up as a Lolita girl.

Tani has to visit multi-gender bathrooms to avoid any misunderstandings, and netizens have raised concerns over how his daughters may be bullied due to his cross-dressing.

There are, however, supportive comments, with fans writing in to show their support, saying "Wow! I want this make-up," and  that Tani is the "cutest dad in the world."

A fan had also asked what type of contact lenses he uses.
