A 20-year-old male motorcyclist died after he allegedly tried to evade a police road block in Paya Lebar, ran a red light, and collided with a car in the early hours of May 28.

The incident occurred at the junction of Geylang Road and Guillemard Road.

Stopped and rode off

The police told Mothership that traffic police (TP) officers were conducting a roadblock along Guillemard Road towards Paya Lebar Road at around 1:50am.

They spotted a motorcycle stopping before the roadblock point.

When the officers approached the motorcyclist, the rider rode forward and dashed through the roadblock.

He failed to stop at the red light at the junction of Guillemard Road and Geylang Road, and subsequently collided with a car.

The motorcyclist was unconscious when conveyed to the hospital, and later passed away.

The driver of the car, a 64-year-old male, was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), who were alerted to the accident around 1:50am, said they brought two persons to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Footage of the aftermath of the incident was shared on Facebook.

A car was seen flipped on its side and blood was apparently on the road.

The five-lane Geylang Road was fully cordoned off by the police.

Another video was posted on Xiaohongshu with the user saying that they were woken up at 2am by a loud crash.

In the video, a paramedic could be seen performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a person lying near a fallen motorcycle.
