China’s Foreign Ministry congratulates S’pore PM Lawrence Wong on PAP win in GE2025

China’s Foreign Ministry congratulated the People’s Action Party (PAP), led by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, on its victory in GE2025
The PAP secured a landslide victory with 65.7 per cent of the overall vote share.
“We express congratulations on the victory,” China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said in a press conference on May 6.
China-Singapore diplomatic ties
This year marks the 35th anniversary of Singapore’s diplomatic relations with China.
“China attaches importance to growing its relations with Singapore,” Lin added.
"We stand ready to work with the new Singaporean government to strengthen communication and exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, and elevate the China-Singapore all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership to a new level."
In a 2023 meeting between then-Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the two leaders spoke of upgrading bilateral relations to an “All-Round High-Quality Future-Oriented Partnership.
They noted Singapore and China’s commitment to continually expanding bilateral cooperation and collaborating in forward-looking areas, such as digital and green economies.
