Bubble Cute bubble tea shop at Tampines Mart to close after 2 decades due to rental increase
Another one bites the dust.

Bubble Cute, a neighbourhood bubble tea shop, is closing after two decades of operations at Tampines Mart at Tampines Street 32.
The impending closure was announced in a notice at the shop.
The last day of operations will be May 18.
The notice informing customers of the permanent closure cited the "drastic increase in rental costs" as the reason.
Tampines Mart, a heartland shopping area, serves the housing estate in the vicinity.
The notice read:
Closure notice: Thank you for 20+ years of support
Dear customers and Tampines Mart neighbours,
After more than two decades, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Bubble Cute due to the drastic increase in rental costs. Our last day of operation will be May 18, 2025.
This was not an easy decision. We are truly grateful for your love, support, and for making us part of your childhood memories - from your first bubble tea to everyday treats.
Thank you for growing up with us. Bubble Cute will always carry a special place in the heart of Tampines Mart and in all of yours. With love, Team Bubble Cute

Responses
News of the impending closure was met with strong reactions online.
Many reminisced the times they went to the store ever since they were children and thanked the middle-aged woman who runs the place, as she would remember their orders from before.
Others said the store sold drinks that were unique to it and not found elsewhere given that there is only one store, which is unlike chain stores that offer the same thing in multiple places.
A commenter on Instagram said in reaction to the news:
my order there has been the same since I first was allowed it in kindergarten 😢 don't drink bubble tea often since I don't drink sweet drinks a lot but I will absolutely be buying for a send off
Another added:
So sad..they have been there since my sec school days (early 2000) 🥲🥲 My first bubble tea was frm them..sighh
Many also said they would make a trip down for one final drink before it is closed for good.
