One observation from GE2020 carried over in the aftermath of this GE2025, in the face of a landslide People's Action Party (PAP) victory.

There were many statistical indicators of the strength of PM Wong and PAP's victory.

PM led the PAP to 65.57 per cent of the popular vote, up from 61.24 per cent in GE2020.

PM also stopped a trend: Previous GEs in 1991 and 2006 saw drops in the PAP's vote share after a new PM took office.

The ruling party also garnered over 75 per cent of the vote in 10 constituencies.

50.04 per cent

But one particular fact persists.

The Workers' Party (WP) secured 50.04 per cent of total votes in the eight constituencies it contested in against the PAP.

This means that more people voted for the WP than the PAP collectively in the contests between the two sides.

It was also the same in GE 2020.

WP secured 50.49 per cent of total votes in the six constituencies it contested in against the PAP.

In total, WP contested in five GRCs and three SMCs this GE.

WP contested 26 seats, won 10 seats and lost 16 seats.

Two were extremely close contests - Jalan Kayu SMC and Tampines GRC - and they will result in WP gaining two NCMP seats.

Another observation is WP teams and candidates also polled above 40 per cent for all its seats.

This means that WP managed to hold steady against a national swing to the PAP.

Below are all the results of the WP-PAP match-ups.

SMCs results: 1 win, 1 narrow loss (NCMP), 1 loss

GRCs results: 2 wins, 1 narrow loss (NCMP), 2 losses
