Labour chief Ng Chee Meng could have role in next Cabinet: PM Wong
"We will unveil all of that in due course," said PM Wong.
NTUC labour chief Ng Chee Meng may be part of the Singapore government's new Cabinet lineup.
This follows Ng's narrow win at Jalan Kayu SMC over Workers' Party (WP) candidate Andre Low.
Ng's role
At a press conference in the early morning of May 4, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong responded to a question from the media about the role Ng would potentially play in PM Wong's Cabinet.
PM Wong noted that Ng is still the labour chief, and said that in previous Cabinet lineups, the labour chief "would potentially have a role in the Cabinet".
"So as I said, we will see. We will unveil all of that in due course," said PM Wong, adding that all will be revealed in another press conference on the new Cabinet lineup.
The People's Action Party (PAP) won a supermajority of the seats this General Election, securing over 80 per cent of the vote share in three different constituencies — the first time since 2001.
