WP's Alexis Dang says poll results are 'not the end' but start of another journey
She added that the WP team accepted voters' choice with "humility and respect".
Workers' Party (WP) candidate for Punggol GRC, Alexis Dang, has spoken up about how the results are "not the end", but the beginning of another journey forward.
Dang made her remarks at Serangoon Stadium, one of the gathering points for candidates and their supporters following the release of the official poll results, 8World reported.
The People's Action Party (PAP) won Punggol GRC with 55.17 per cent or 63,589 of the votes, while the WP lost with 44.83 per cent or 51,663 of the votes.
The PAP team comprised Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, Sun Xueling, Janil Puthucheary and Yeo Wan Ling.
The WP team was made up of Harpreet Singh, Alexis Dang, Jackson Au and Siti Alia Binte Abdul Rahim Mattar.
Dang: WP team accepts the voters' choice
Dang said the WP Punggol team accepted the choice made by voters with "humility and respect", and added that despite the presence of different camps, they shared the common goal of serving the people.
Dang also said her team has done its best in the past nine days and will continue to stand with the public in future.
Her fellow candidate, Jackson Au, expressed his hope that the elected members of the PAP will love the voters and serve them wholeheartedly.
