A woman who was seen walking along a slip road beside the Central Expressway (CTE) was offered a ride by a helpful motorcyclist.

Footage of the incident was uploaded to the Facebook group SG Road Vigilante on Apr. 7.

The post tagged motorcycle enthusiast and influencer Vaune Phan, who was the motorcyclist in question.

According to the post, the incident happened earlier in the day, on the slip road from the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) towards the CTE, beside Toa Payoh East.

Woman was walking on lane markings

The incident was filmed by the vehicle behind the motorcycle.

At the start of the video, the motorcyclist could be seen gesturing to a car to stop, while other cars were seen moving slowly.

The reason for the slow traffic was soon revealed: A woman was walking along the slip road's lane markings.

The motorcyclist headed to the lady, then stopped beside her and spoke to her.

Eventually, she was seen offering the lady a ride, which she accepted.

After she got onto the back of the motorcycle, the motorcyclist rode off.

What happened?

In response to Mothership's queries, Phan said the incident happened on Apr. 7 at around 4:47pm along the route towards Ang Mo Kio.

She was riding her Suzuki DR200 scrambler bike when she noticed there was a jam.

Phan then saw a lady, who appeared to be in her early 40s, standing unsteadily in the middle of the CTE.

She also noted that the lady appeared distressed and disoriented, with her back to oncoming traffic.

Realising how dangerous the situation was, Phan immediately brought the woman to safety.

She asked the lady if she was alright, to which the lady replied in Mandarin, "I'm tired. I'm really very tired".

Phan reassured her, asking her not to worry, and offered her a lift to "somewhere safer to talk".

Thankfully, the lady took her up on the offer.

Phan then took the nearest exit at Braddell. She then came across the police.

"Shortly after I exited the highway, a police car coincidentally drove right across us and so I approached them immediately for assistance. We stopped safely at a nearby car park where I helped the lady off my motorcycle before leaving her in the police's good hands."

The lady told Phan she had not eaten or drank anything the whole day.

Phan said:

"I had a short chat with her just to calm her down a bit, and learnt that she hasn't eaten nor drank anything the whole day. The police were very kind to buy her some orange juice too."

Phan said while she wasn't sure how the lady ended up on the highway, she did note that sometimes people just needed a bit of help.

"I'm just very grateful that she's safe and thankful for the driver (who I believe is the owner of the dashcam) who helped to hold the oncoming traffic for us when on the highway. I'm glad everyone is safe and let's always try to be kind."
