Man, 36, arrested after allegedly stealing about S$50,000 of red packets from Beach Road hotel wedding reception
He will be charged with theft on Apr. 9.
A 36-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly took away two wedding money boxes containing red packets at a wedding reception at a hotel along Beach Road on Apr. 5.
The red packets contained cash amounting to around S$50,000, said the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in an Apr. 8 news release.
Changed attire after alleged theft
According to SPF, they were alerted to the alleged theft case at 12:49pm on Saturday.
The man was identified and arrested on Apr. 7 following ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV.
Cash amounting to S$3,000 was recovered and seized as case exhibit.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had possibly premeditated the theft of the wedding money boxes.
He had also apparently changed into a different attire after the alleged incident.
The man will be charged in court on Apr. 9 with the offence of theft, which carries a jail term of up to three years and a fine.
