Van hits 7 parked vehicles at Ang Mo Kio car park, driver, 69, arrested for drink driving

Residents came down to inspect the damage.

Some Ang Mo Kio residents got a rude shock in the wee hours of the morning on Apr. 12 when a white van ran amok in a HDB carpark, damaging seven other vehicles parked there.

The 69-year-old driver was subsequently arrested for drink driving.

Police told Mothership that on Apr. 12 at about 12:45am, they were alerted to an accident involving a van and seven parked vehicles at Block 218 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1.

The aftermath

A clip uploaded to TikTok the same day showed a number of residents walking through the car park to inspect the damage.

The cars had suffered various degrees of damage, such as shattered windows, broken headlights, and dislodged license plates.

A voice could be heard remarking that some of the cars looked "expensive".

One blue car had been knocked sideways by the van, and its front hood had crumpled inwards.

At least 10 residents were seen gathered at the carpark, with some on their phones.

Two men were seen speaking to a man near a white van that had also been damaged.

What happened

Dashcam footage shared to the Singapore roads accident.com Facebook showed a white van crashing into the blue car at around 12:43am, before continuing on its way.

A few loud "bangs" could be heard off-camera as the alarms rang out.

Police told Mothership that following the accident, a 69-year-old male van driver was arrested for drink driving.

Police investigations are ongoing.
