GE2025: Criminal lawyer Marshall Lim will represent PAP in Hougang SMC

The People's Action Party (PAP) introduced its candidate for Hougang SMC on Apr. 13, 2025: Criminal lawyer Marshall Lim.

Speaking at a press conference, he said:

“It has been a privilege to serve Singapore and Singaporeans as a lawyer in private practice and as a public servant. I now ask Singaporeans and especially our Hougang residents to give me an opportunity to fight for you, your family and our community as your leader.”

Lim is a partner at local law firm Martin & Partners. He previously served as an assistant chief public defender at the Public Defender’s Office.

He also spoke about his beliefs:

"To me, justice isn’t just about punishment, it is about fairness, compassion and believing people can change. I’ve stood up for people who don’t always get seen. People who mess up, but still have so much life ahead of them."

Hougang SMC has been held by The Workers' Party (WP) since 1991, making it the longest-held opposition constituency in Singapore.

The WP has not announced its candidate for Hougang SMC. However, the incumbent MP is Dennis Tan.
