WP new face Kenneth Tiong seen at Aljunied GRC community event

He could be ex-MP Leon Perera's replacement.

Workers’ Party (WP) new face Kenneth Tiong was seen along with WP MPs at a residents' dialogue event in Aljunied GRC, on Apr. 12.

Tiong, 36, a director of tech start-up Sensemake AI, was seen interacting with residents at the "Neighbourhood Conversations" event held at Block 122 Bedok Reservoir Road, in WP chief Pritam Singh's ward, Lianhe Zaobao and The Straits Times reported.

More than 100 members of the public attended the event, Zaobao reported.

Singh and the other Aljunied GRC MPs, Sylvia Lim, Faisal Manap and Gerald Giam, were present, along with Hougang MP Dennis Tan.

Who is Kenneth Tiong?

Tiong previously studied at Raffles Institution and obtained a Bachelor of Science from Brown University, according to his LinkedIn.

He has previously worked as a business analyst for global consulting firm McKinsey & Company, and as head quantitative developer for investment firm Brahman Capital.

Tiong is likely to be fielded in the Serangoon ward of Aljunied GRC, which was occupied by ex-MP Leon Perera before he resigned from the WP, ST reported.

Tiong has been coordinating Meet-the-People Sessions in Serangoon since 2024, according to ST.

He has also recently set up a public Facebook profile.

Other new faces at the event

Other WP new faces seen at the Apr. 12 event were Jimmy Tan, 53, and Abdul Muhaimin Abdul Malik, 35.

Tan, an industrial equipment sales manager and legislative assistant to Pritam Singh, could be fielded in Tampines GRC.

Muhaimin, a senior property manager with the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council, could be fielded in Sengkang GRC.

He has been spotted on several walkabouts with Sengkang MPs.

Earlier in April, Muhaimin posted on his Instagram about house visits made to Compassvale residents, saying that he would work closely with Team Sengkang to address residents' concerns about lifts in the estate.
