We try Subway’s 5 Signatures sandwiches such as Smoky BBQ Beef Brisket & Fiery Mexican Chicken
Fresh ingredients and fresh out the oven.

Subway Singapore previously introduced five new sandwich flavours, known as Subway Signatures, which are now a permanent addition to the Subway menu.
It’s a rather diverse range, and according to Subway, these recipes were curated based on consumer research and taste tests, so there’s sure to be something that will satisfy everyone’s palate.
The five subs are the Smoky BBQ Beef Brisket, Avo Caesar Chicken, Beef & Mushroom Melt, Chicken & Mushroom Melt, and Fiery Mexican Chicken.
We managed to head down to one of Subway’s restaurants to snag some freshly prepared subs.
Let’s dig in.
Avo Caesar Chicken
Avocado fans will love this. The sub boasts an “improved hand-scooped avocado”, according to Subway, coupled with roasted chicken thighs and drizzled with tangy Caesar sauce.
My colleagues Sul and Tristan got the honour of trying all five subs.
Tristan shared that he initially couldn’t taste the avocado as much, but that the creaminess of the fruit kicked in a bit later.
Tristan’s 1 bite 5 words review: I've guac to have more
Sul, on the other hand, taught me a new word with his review.
Sul’s 1 bite 5 words review: Zesty, crunchy and rather piquant
For those who come across this word for the first time (like me), “piquant” means having a pleasantly sharp taste.
However, he added that he typically gets his sandwiches without sauce, and found eating this a tad messy with the avocado and sauces.
So fair warning for those who are going to purchase this, remember to keep your tissues handy.
Fiery Mexican Chicken
This new flavour is for those who like it hot.
It contains spicy mayonnaise and Chipotle Southwest sauce smothered over roasted
chicken thighs. Sweet corn, zesty onions, and extra jalapeño slices add another kick. All nestled in toasty Parmesan Oregano bread.
Both Tristan and Sul definitely felt the heat after having a bite. Sul added that, for him, the spiciness was “just right”.
Tristan’s 1 bite 5 words review: A firedance on my tastebuds
Sul’s 1 bite 5 words review: Surprisingly tangy and muy caliente (which means “very hot” in Spanish)
Chicken & Mushroom Melt
Mushroom lovers will get to enjoy two new flavours from Subway, one of which is the Chicken & Mushroom Melt, a combination of roasted chicken thighs, sliced mushrooms, Old English cheese, mozzarella, and ranch sauce.
Subway’s mushrooms were previously diced, but now come sliced for a better bite.
Tristan’s 1 bite 5 words review: I have mushrooms for more
Sul’s 1 bite 5 words review: Savoury and surprisingly so satisfying
Smoky BBQ Beef Brisket
This new sub will certainly make you feel as if you’re outdoors and about to indulge in some food fresh off a BBQ grill.
The star of the Smoky BBQ Beef Brisket is, as its name suggests, a smoky beef brisket that has been slow-marinated in black pepper, smoky paprika, and brown sugar
The sub is then topped off with sweet caramelised onions, tangy Chipotle Southwest sauce, and of course, smoky BBQ sauce.
It seems this was a hit with both Tristan and Sul, with the latter stating that it was a good combination of sweet and savoury.
Tristan’s 1 bite 5 words review: It's my favourite so far
Sul’s 1 bite 5 words review: Light it up, yeehaw
Beef & Mushroom Melt
The Chicken & Mushroom Melt has a twin, the Beef & Mushroom Melt.
Instead of roasted chicken thigh, get a mouthful of smoky beef brisket, with Old English cheese and mozzarella.
This sandwich appears to be reminiscent of Philadelphia cheesesteaks as Sul will note in his review. So if you’re a cheese lover, this is one option for you.
Sul’s 1 bite 5 words review: Taste of Philadelphia right here
And it seems Tristan found his new favourite Subway sandwich.
Tristan’s 1 bite 5 words review: Nevermind this is my favourite
Final thoughts
Overall, of the five sandwiches, it seems that the Beef & Mushroom Melt and Smoky Beef Brisket are the top hits for both Sul and Tristan.
Makes sense, as both contain the brand new smoky beef brisket, which might become Subway’s latest popular choice of protein.
For the ultimate freshness and crispiness of the bread and veggies, it’s best to consume the sandwiches on the spot.
The Subway Signatures are available at all outlets in Singapore, and a six-inch sub costs upwards of S$9.50, while a footlong is priced from S$15.20.
If you’re looking for a more hearty meal, add on a side of nachos. There are three nachos options to choose from:
- Cheesy Nachos Bowl (S$5.50)
- Loaded Nachos Bowl with avocado (S$6.50)
- Overloaded Nachos Bowl with avocado and spicy beef taco ($8.50)
