Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has unveiled a third batch of new People's Action Party (PAP) candidates.
"Singapore is special, because Singaporeans are special," PM Wong said in an Apr. 15 video posted on social media.
He added that he had "assembled a team of dedicated Singaporeans with a heart to serve", and called for people to lend them their support.
"Let's build a better Singapore for ourselves and all our loved ones," he said.
The nine faces
The nine individuals are:
- Jeffrey Siow, 46, former 2nd permanent secretary at Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI)
- Valerie Lee, Sembcorp head of corporate affairs
- Alex Yeo, 46, lawyer
- David Hoe, 30s, nonprofit director
- Elysa Chen, 41, social service agency director
- Hazlina Abdul Halim, 40, consulting firm senior vice-president
- Foo Cexiang, 40, former director at Ministry of Transport (MOT)
- Choo Pei Ling, academic
- Dinesh Vasu Dash, 50, former chief of Agency for Integrated Care (AIC)
Combined with the two previous batches of candidates, this brings the total number of PAP new faces to 26.
PM Wong previously said that in total, the party would field over 30 new candidates, its largest slate in recent history.
