The Workers' Party released its 2025 general election video right after the May 3 Polling Day was announced with the issuance of the Writ of Election on Apr. 15.

The WP video asked voters to step up together with the party and introduced its GE2025 campaign slogan, "Working for Singapore".

It featured the WP's slate of eight MPs: Aljunied GRC MPs Pritam Singh, Sylvia Lim, Faisal Manap and Gerald Giam; Hougang SMC MP Dennis Tan; and Sengkang GRC MPs Louis Chua, He Ting Ru and Jamus Lim.

New slogan

WP said its slogans have changed over the years, but the party retains its mission.

“The Workers’ Party prides ourselves on contributing to unity in diversity. Our voices aim to represent the diverse Singaporean population, while working towards a First World Parliament,” WP said on social media, as it urged Singaporeans to “step up”.

“None of this could have happened without your continuous support. By making your vote count in 2020, we made history by having the highest number of opposition MPs in Parliament,” it said.

It added: “From 2020 to 2025, our ideas were heard and acted upon by the government. Together, we’ve shown that constructive opposition leads to better outcomes. But the work is not done. We cannot stop here. We will continue to work for Singapore, and we hope you will step up and do so too.”

What video showed

In the video, the various WP MPs spoke on different issues.

Singh called Singaporeans the “true agents of change”: “The Workers’ Party is just the platform to bring their voices into Parliament, and the true people who have power are the voters. And they control the future.”

Jamus Lim said a contest was the only way to bring about new ideas: “That’s necessary and healthy for any mature democracy.”

Giam said it is important to have balance in the political system: “We cannot have one party that’s dominating everything in Singapore. There needs to be more diversity.”

Sylvia Lim asked: “If the PAP fails, what’s our Plan B?”

Call for donations

Leader of the Opposition, Singh, also put out a call for public donations to fund his party's campaigning efforts.

He wrote:

An election campaign requires significant resources — including outreach efforts, logistics and transport, production of campaign posters and banners, sound systems and stage equipment for election rallies, along with other essential operational costs.

Like the cost of living, the cost of an election campaign has also risen considerably. We do not have access to the same scale of funding as the ruling party. We depend on the support of fellow Singaporeans, like you, who believe in balance, accountability and choice.

Before that, Singh thanked all the constituents in WP's estates.
