Chinese factories claim they make high-end luxury brand goods, ask US customers to buy directly from them
Tariffs.
TikTok is being flooded with videos from factories in China claiming that they are the ones making products for high-end brands.
According to The Independent, one of the videos that have racked up 10 million views claims to be able to sell yoga pants from the same manufacturer that supplies Lululemon.
The only difference is that the manufacturer supplies Lululemon the products for around S$8.
Another video claimed that the same branded bags from brands like Louis Vuitton can be sold to customers for S$65.
These claims have been denied by both companies.
They told The Independent that these are likely an effort by counterfeit manufacturers trying to boost sales.
According to Newsweek, the claims by some of the TikTok videos were "very unlikely" under U.S. and EU labelling regulations.
Despite that, comments pointing out the undermining of perceived value of goods have gone viral.
China is fighting dirty.
