PUB issues flash flood warnings for KPE, TPE & Yishun, advises public to avoid areas

The heat in Singapore has given way to torrential downpours as flash floods have occurred at Tampines Expressway (TPE) and Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE).

PUB tweeted on X that a flash flood occurred at Punggol Way, along a slip road to TPE, on Apr. 13 at around 1:57pm.

As of 2:50pm, the flash flood at Punggol Way subsided.

At 2:05pm, a flash flood also occurred at KPE, along a slip road to Buangkok East Drive.

Members of the public were warned to avoid the area. PUB also deployed its officers to render assistance in both locations.

Yishun Avenue 7 was also hit with a flash flood at 1:50pm; as of 2:30pm, the flood had subsided.

Risk of flash floods

PUB also issued numerous warnings for areas at risk of flash floods.

As of 2:52pm, these are the areas that the public are warned to avoid for the next hour or so:

  • Jalan Poko Serunai
  • Bukit Timah Road
  • Lorong Ong Lye (near Lorong Lew Lian)
  • Junction of Toa Payoh Lor 1 and Toa Payoh Lor 2
  • Eng Kong Place
  • Jalan Lokam (near Upper Paya Lebar Road)
  • Upper Paya Lebar Service Road
  • Thrift Drive (near Jalan Usaha)
  • Junction of Yishun Avenue 2 and Yishun Avenue 5

At 1:39pm, the National Environment Agency (NEA) stated that heavy rain was expected over many areas of Singapore from 1:30pm to 3pm.
