S'pore teen, 17, allegedly splashed white paint & scribbled loanshark-related graffiti at Yishun flat

He will be charged in court on Mar. 19.

A 17-year-old teenager was arrested after he allegedly splashed white paint at the main door and gate of a residential unit along Yishun Road on Mar. 18.

Additionally, he was accused of scribbling the wall beside the unit with loanshark-related graffiti, according to the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

Arrested within 4 hours after police report lodged

According to the police, they were alerted to the alleged case of loanshark harassment on Tuesday.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, the police established the identity of the teenager.

He was arrested on the same day, within four hours of the report.

The teenager will be charged in court on Mar. 19 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.

For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine of up to S$50,000, a jail term of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.
