Singaporean news presenter Glenda Chong, 51, gave birth to a boy at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital on Mar. 5, 2025.
The newborn boy, nicknamed "Baby Chan", is the first child for Chong and her husband, Justin Chan, 48, according to CNA Lifestyle.
According to Chong, her first words to her son were, "I love you so much", which was a nod to American actor Denzel Washington's quote, "A mother is a son's first love, and a son is a mother's last love".
The news presenter is now recovering from giving birth and is eager to spend "quality time" with her son by doing things that make him "healthy and happy".
Couple 'fighting' for pregnancy for a decade
In an October 2024 interview with CNA Today, Chong shared that she and Chan had tried to conceive for 10 years, including by undergoing multiple cycles of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments.
After receiving her 10th IVF treatment, Chong decided that it would be her last attempt at becoming a mother.
She told Chan at the time that if their attempt fails, they should start looking at retirement plans.
Although the couple had "no expectations", their prayers were answered when Chong found out she was pregnant last year.
Chong subsequently announced her pregnancy in October 2024 and posted photos of herself with her nine-month baby bump on Mar. 2, 2025, three days before the arrival of her son.
