4 more JCs to be redeveloped under JC Rejuvenation Programme
The four JCs under the first phase are expected to operate from their rejuvenated campuses from January 2028.
Four more Junior College (JC) campuses will undergo rejuvenation under the second phase of the JC Rejuvenation Programme.
Anglo-Chinese JC (ACJC), Catholic JC (CJC), National JC (NJC), and Victoria JC (VJC) will all undergo infrastructure upgrades to enhance teaching and learning, and cater to staff and students' future needs.
These are the next oldest JC campuses, said education minister Chan Chun Sing during his speech at the Ministry of Education (MOE) Committee of Supply debate on Mar. 6.
When phasing JCs in the JC Rejuvenation Programme, MOE would consider the age and state of the JC's buildings and facilities, in addition to school stakeholders' views and preferences.
"MOE is working with the JCs on their infrastructure plans, including possibly moving them to new locations. As part of the plans, we are also discussing how the JCs can develop new programmes, work with industry and serve the communities around them."
More details will be shared in due course.
Chan also provided updates on the first phase of the Programme, which involved Anderson Serangoon JC (ASRJC), Jurong Pioneer JC (JPJC), Temasek JC (TJC), and Yishun Innova JC (YIJC).
Phase One
MOE previously announced the first phase of the programme in 2019, during which the four JCs would undergo renovation.
These rejuvenated JC campuses will have enhanced facilities and features to support more student-centered, experiential, and collaborative learning.
For staff, there will also be multi-functional workspaces to promo te staff interaction.
MOE worked closely with the four JCs on the designs of the redeveloped campuses with an estimated budget of about S$570 million.
All four JCs under the first phase are expected to operate from their rejuvenated campuses from January 2028.
