There's a polling district in Tampines with only 1 voter, according to EBRC's report

Editor's note: Mothership understands that the solo voter in polling district EC42 will be assigned to a polling station in an adjacent polling district. We have updated the article to reflect this.

The Electoral Boundaries Review Committee released its report on the recommended electoral boundary changes today and eagle-eyed readers might have noticed that there's a polling district with only one registered voter.

That's right.

This little quirky statistic in page 13 of the report:

Here's the polling district of EC42, according to the report:

This polling district is about 14 football fields large.

It's fairly big, especially if you compare it to the relatively minute EC15 polling district -- which makes the presence of one sole voter even more striking.

Here, the URA's OneMap shows us that EC42 corresponds to the the locales of Tampines Street 92, 94, 95, and 96:

It also, rather helpfully, shows us that there are BTO projects Tampines Greenquartz, Tampines GreenEmerald, and Tampines GreenOpal in the area.

A quick check on Google Maps also reveals another BTO project, Tampines GreenTopaz and Tampines SAFRA in the north.

Meanwhile, the area around Tampines Street 92 comprises mainly industrial buildings as well as a commercial hostel.

Somewhere in the midst of all these, resides our mystery voter.

What does this mean for our solo voter on Polling Day?

Nothing much really, except maybe a cool anecdote for parties.

Our solo voter's choice at the ballot box won't have a consequential impact on the final result; his/her vote will be collected with the rest from Tampines Changkat SMC and counted together.

And alas, they won't be getting their own polling station to report to.

Mothership understands that this voter will be assigned to a polling station in an adjacent polling district, which judging from the new electoral map, could be TM42 or TM43.
