Myanmar's 'hottest monk', 29, announces engagement
He entered a monastery for 10 days in 2021, a common practice for Myanmar men.

Myanmar’s “hottest monk”, Paing Takhon, has broken the hearts of many by announcing his engagement to Linn Mya Phu.
The 29-year-old model and actor did a 10-day stint in a Myanmar monastery in 2021, after sharing pictures of himself in monk’s robes and shaved head.
It is common for Myanmar men and boys to undertake periods of monkhood.
The pictures of him engaged in alms collection and other related activities made him go international, and eventually saw him being declared “Myanmar’s hottest monk”.
But things haven’t always been smooth for him, as he joined many other young Myanmar citizens in protesting the military coup that occurred later that year.
He was subsequently arrested for his participation and sentenced to a three-year jail term with hard labour.
However, in March 2022 he was released, after being pardoned by the military junta.
Engagement
VNExpress reported that he and Linn, who is the daughter of an oil tycoon, will be getting married.
The pair have been a couple since at least August 2024, when their relationship was revealed.
Linn, who is also 29, has made several appearances on Paing’s Instagram in recent months.
Now the pair are engaged to be married, with some fans sharing their disappointment, while others wished him all the best.
