Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, the Thai king's eldest daughter, has passed away at 47.
According to an announcement by the Bureau of the Royal Household reported on by Khaosod English, the princess passed away on Jun. 11 at 7:48pm.
Bajrakitiyabha had been unconscious due to a cardiac condition and had been receiving treatment at the hospital since Dec. 15, 2022.
Her condition deteriorated in May of this year.
Doctors had detected an abdominal infection caused by the inflammation of the large intestine in April.
This caused Bajrakitiyabha's condition to become unstable, which also led to low blood pressure, irregular heartbeat and abnormal blood clotting.
According to Khaosod English, the king has issued a royal command ordering the Bureau of the Royal Household to arrange the royal funeral rites with the highest honours according to royal traditions, and to enshrine her at Phiman Rattaya Hall in the Grand Palace.
