Man in Russia, 44, forcibly takes girl, 5, into building in broad daylight, stopped by children & passerby

A 44-year-old man in Russia was caught on closed-circuit television footage attempting to kidnap a five-year-old girl in broad daylight.

He was stopped by other children and a passerby who heard their cries for help.

The man, who local news outlets have branded as a paedophile, has reportedly confessed to his crimes in court.

Forcibly took girl into building

According to the Russian news site Gazeta, the incident occurred on May 28 in the city of Tyumen, located in Russia's Siberia region.

In a video of the incident circulating on social media, a man was seen unlocking a door to a building while carrying a young girl in his arms.

He donned a pair of shades, a black top and black trousers.

The man then opened the door and attempted to enter the building with the girl, but was stopped by a boy, who fought to keep the door ajar.

Children, stranger to the rescue

The boy could then be seen appearing to shout into the distance before a woman in pink arrived at the scene.

She briefly enters the building before exiting together with the girl.

The woman could also be seen appearing to take a photo with her phone.

Based on a video clip from inside the building, the woman in pink could be heard talking to the man before he released the girl.

He then gestured at the woman before walking out of the camera's field of view.

Man detained

The man was later detained, Russian newspaper Izvestia reported.

The newspaper reported that the man intended to sexually abuse the girl.

It was also reported that the victim is a five-year-old girl.

The man has since confessed in court and is under detention while awaiting trial.

Izvestia also reported that the man has a young daughter of his own, citing remarks from the man's ex-wife.

The woman in pink told the newspaper that she was driving to her mum's house when she heard the cries and screams of children.

As she approached to investigate, she saw the man attempting to take the girl into the building.

She said she yelled at the man and told him to release the girl.

She also took a photo of the man.

The victim's father apparently also arrived at the scene after hearing the children's cries.
