A five-vehicle crash in Johor, Malaysia, killed five people, including four members of a family, one of whom was a 10-year-old girl, after a BMW allegedly travelling at high speed lost control and collided with several oncoming vehicles.

According to the Kluang district police chief, initial investigations found that a BMW 530e, driven by a 22-year-old man, was travelling from Kluang towards Simpang Renggam.
The BMW was believed to have been driven at high speed alongside a Mercedes-Benz A250 driven by a 19-year-old man, who was the BMW driver’s younger brother.
The police chief said, as cited by Bernama, that the crash happened when the BMW lost control and entered the opposite lane, hitting a Perodua Alza, a Toyota Vios, a Proton Wira and another Mercedes-Benz.

“One of them, an elderly woman, had been thrown from the car and was found on top of one of the luxury cars,” the operations commander added.
Two children travelling in the Perodua Alza, an 11-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl, also suffered head injuries and were receiving treatment at Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang, as reported by Bernama.
The 43-year-old Alza driver sustained leg injuries, while the 22-year-old Proton Wira driver suffered injuries to his mouth.
A 57-year-old woman driving the other Mercedes-Benz sustained minor injuries, while her two passengers were unhurt.
Family had just lost another relative two weeks ago
The tragedy came just two weeks after Mohd Aiman’s father died of intestinal cancer, his aunt, Nor Haida Dolah, 54, told The Sun.
She said:
“Today we are hit with the most heartbreaking news that not only Mohd Aiman but his wife, his mother-in-law and his niece have died in the crash.”
According to Nor Haida, Mohd Aiman lived and worked at the Felda Ulu Sedili Oil Palm Plantation in Johor, and had been on his way back from a close relative’s celebration in Telok Emas, Melaka, when the crash happened.
Separately, Nor Azlina’s niece, Nurul Hidayah Kamarruddin, 29, told The Sun that she last met her aunt during a family gathering in Jasin, Melaka, on May 30, just two days before the crash.
Nurul Hidayah said the family had usually taken photos and videos during Hari Raya gatherings, but did not do so this time as they were focused on spending time together.
“When I was told that they had been involved in a crash and had died, I was speechless because I had only just met them. I immediately rushed to Kluang,” she added.

Police have arrested the 19-year-old Mercedes-Benz A250 driver to assist with investigations, and the vehicle has been seized, according to Bernama.
The police chief said a urine test conducted on the 19-year-old was negative for prohibited substances.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of Malaysia’s Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, as well as Section 42(1) of the same Act.
