A 21-year-old Hong Kong basketball coach has been accused of allegedly spreading sexually transmitted infections to multiple women while dating each of them at the same time, after the case was featured on Hong Kong current affairs programme Scoop on May 31, according to ST Headline.
The man, identified only as H, allegedly told each woman she was his only partner. Three victims, Chan, Liu, and Huang, all tested positive for different strains of HPV and genital lesions after being with him.
The human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common infection spread through sex.
How the victims connected the dots
Chan told Scoop she met H on a dating platform in mid-2025, while Liu crossed paths with him at work in February this year. Both believed they were in an exclusive relationship with him, as he had told each that they were his only partner.
Liu then started developing symptoms in early March and was subsequently diagnosed with multiple STIs, requiring hospitalisation after developing a fever. When she confronted H, he apologised.
On Mar. 18, Chan was at work when she received an unexpected message from a stranger, Liu, asking if she had been tested and warning her that H had an STD.
Chan said:
"I tested positive for HPV type 16, which can lead to cervical cancer. It's a cancer that can actually kill you. I always thought he was sincere. In that moment, I suddenly felt like I had never known this person at all."

However, when Chan showed up at H's home with a medical report showing nine different STIs and demanded he take responsibility, he refused to talk to her.
It was only after Liu went public with her allegations online that a third victim, Huang, came forward. When the three women compared notes, they uncovered the full picture. He had been juggling all of them simultaneously.
All three subsequently tested positive for different strains of HPV and genital lesions.
He told the victims:
"It's my fault, I was wrong. If you let me know how much the medical bills come to in the end, I'll pay you back in full."
Blocked
However, after the victims confronted H, he allegedly blocked all three and told them he would "disappear from their sight,” making no effort to address their medical bills or take responsibility, per ST Headline.
H carried on as normal on social media, leaving flirtatious comments on young women's posts daily.
The victims were also disgusted to find him reminding others to "take proper precautions, otherwise it's easy to get diseases" while simultaneously advising that "people who find a partner quickly are just settling."
Liu sent H a lawyer's letter demanding compensation for medical bills and emotional distress. He replied, saying the two had only been sex partners and that he had no obligation to disclose his sexual health status, and that having multiple partners was a personal choice.
He also claimed he had since tested negative, but provided no documentation to support this. He made no mention of HPV testing at all.

Victims set a trap
Unwilling to let the matter rest, the three women created fake social media accounts to lure H. He allegedly took the bait within a day, quickly turning the conversation flirtatious, asking the fake profile: "So can I win you over?" and saying he wanted to see what she was wearing.
The victims eventually arranged to meet him in person under the pretence of a gym session, where TVB's Scoop confronted him on the street.
When the show's host pressed him on whether he had been tested and whether he had HPV, H said:
"If you want to talk to me, you can communicate through my lawyer."
He added:
"It's not convenient for me to respond right now."
